Finding Spring Treasures in the Woods

Dan and I went for a hike up into the woods where he forages for ramps every year. I really wanted to see what else was popping up along with the ramps. Here’s what we found.

I can identify a few of them but I am not quite sure if the small white one in the 6th pic is an Anemone.

I really love the colors and look of the blue cohosh. The stem appears first and is a dark maroon. The flowers are very tiny in the same color as the stem with little bits of yellow at the center. Then there was the log which was was covered in different types moss that I could see the red from the spindley new growth from 25 yards away. I plan to go back in a few days to see what else is starting to sprout.

This time in the woods brings everything into perspective.
