As I mentioned in my earlier post, I enrolled in an intensive workshop, a deep dive into lake pigments. If you don’t know anything about lake pigments, I have put some links at the end of this post.
One of the instructors, Natalie Stopka, has a book out right now, From Plant to Pigment. This week, I made the turmeric lake recipe from her book. It takes a week or two to extract the color. It was worth the wait.

If I have to be inside on these cold, snowy, February days, this is the perfect color to make me smile.

The workshop is through a website called Plants and Colour . I’ve taken some other classes with them; the instructors are really wonderful, and if you have any interest in natural, sustainable color-making, I highly recommend checking it out.
